We still remember it, landing in Australia and hunting for something as simple as good polao er chaal before Eid. For years, that’s just been part of the experience: driving across the city, asking around in group chats, hoping someone knew a shop that stocked what we grew up with. We built BD2OZ because we were tired of the search, and figured other Bangladeshis in Australia probably were too.

So BD2OZ started as a simple idea: one place where the Bangladeshi community in Australia could find each other’s businesses, share honest reviews, and stop starting from scratch every single time.

But the more people we talked to, the more we realised there’s a bigger gap to fill. So many Bangladeshi students land here full of hope, degree in hand (or in progress), and still struggle to find that first job or internship — something that actually gives them a real shot. We wanted BD2OZ to be that too, not just a marketplace, but a place where students can find real opportunities, and where employers who want to support the community can find them right back.

At its heart, this is about connection. We want BD2OZ to feel like community, not just a directory. A place for good conversations, real experiences, and events that bring us together. Somewhere you can leave a review, land a job, meet a mentor, or find a new customer — and always feel like you belong.
